I am a harmonic analyst in a broad sense of the term. To quote Yitzhak Katznelzon's An Introduction to Harmonic Analysis, "harmonic analysis is the study of objects (functions, measures, etc.) defined on topological groups". I consider the term to be even more inclusive: my research interests also include semigroups and locally compact quantum groups as well as objects associated with these. My kind of harmonic analysis intersects with theory of Banach algebras, as many of the studied objects are Banach algebras. On the other hand, theory of operator algebras is often needed in practice, especially when studying quantum groups.
